Spend the Summer at Pennfield

We have a fun-filled lineup of programs for children ages 3-14! Designed to provide new experiences and exciting learning opportunities, there is something for everyone: science, sustainability, outdoor games, performing & visual arts, exploring nature, and just plain fun!

Drop off begins at 8:30 a.m., and camp instruction starts at 9:00 a.m. each morning. Pick up for kiddie camps (ages 3-5) is at 1:00 p.m. with an option to extend the day to 3:00 p.m. All other camps end at 3:00 p.m.

Week 1: June 23-27

Kiddie Camp – Let’s Go Camping: ages 3-5

Step into a wilderness of fun! Campers will gather ‘round for a fun-filled adventure, exploring stories, crafts and games inspired by the great outdoors. All children must be potty trained.

Let’s Get Cooking 1: grades 1-3 (This camp is FULL. Please email summer@pennfield.org if you wish to be added to a waitlist.)

Put on your aprons and get ready to mix, stir, and create delicious dishes! In this hands-on cooking camp, young chefs will learn to make healthy snacks, tasty desserts, and seasonal meals perfect for summer. Along the way, they’ll explore new ingredients, practice kitchen skills, and discover the joy of cooking. If needed, recipes will be adjusted to accommodate known allergies. Dream House Magic: grades 1-3

Bring your dolls and step into a world of glamour, creativity, and adventure! In this camp, campers will dive into a world of fashion, fun, and imagination. From designing their own tutus and accessories to creating stylish dreamhouse decor, every day will be filled with hands-on projects and activities. They’ll showcase their dolls’ looks in a fun fashion show that celebrates creativity, teamwork, and FUN! Get ready to sparkle, create, and make memories that will last a lifetime! Bushcraft – Summer Survivor: grades 3-7

Ignite your inner adventurer in the ultimate exploration camp! Campers will dive into essential survival skills, including foraging for resources, building fires, and constructing shelters, all while learning to thrive in the great outdoors. In this exciting and interactive experience, participants will form clans to compete in friendly challenges, showcasing teamwork, creativity, and resilience. Comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear are essential as kids navigate hands-on activities and outdoor adventures. Whether you’re a budding survivalist or just looking to have fun in nature, Bushcraft: Summer Survivor promises an unforgettable journey!

Please Note: This camp requires strong listening skills, responsibility, determination and a can-do attitude. Participants need to be able to stay with the group on 2-3 mile hikes. (Instructors: Veronica Hardy and Sam Schreiber)

Week 2 (4 days): June 30 – July 3 

Kiddie Camp – Under the Sea: ages 3-5

Dive into fun, and join us for a week of ocean adventures! Children will be engaged through storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. All children must be potty trained.

Wildlife Wonders: Grades 1-3

Calling all animal lovers – adventure awaits! In Wildlife Wonders, campers will embark on a thrilling journey into the animal kingdom. With hands-on activities, animal-inspired crafts and games, every day is filled with fun and discovery! It’s the perfect camp for any animal lover ready to explore and celebrate the wild world around them! (Instructor: Meghan Bonin)

Be an Artist Everyday: grades 1-5

Express your imagination and creativity, and discover your inner artist! Campers will discover new art techniques and processes while using a variety of unique materials as they explore works from art masters around the world. (Instructor: Blayney Norton-Hayes)

Winter in July: grades 1-3

A winter adventure, all wrapped up in summer fun! Campers will get crafty by making snowflakes, creating their own snow, and enjoying cozy hot cocoa while listening to magical winter melodies.  With fun winter-themed crafts and activities all week long, this is the perfect way to enjoy the magical spirit of winter in the warm Summer sun! Get ready to take the stage and explore the magic of theatre! Campers will dive into pantomime, puppetry, storytelling, and improv, using their imaginations to bring stories to life. Throughout the week, campers will build confidence, work with friends, and have a blast performing together. We’ll end the week with a special performance for family and friends! Kiddie Camp – Earth Day, Every Day: ages 3-5

It’s a week-long Earth Day celebration, where every day is a chance to care for the planet. Children will be engaged through storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. All children must be potty trained.

Baking Buddies 1: grades 1-3

Get ready to mix, dip, decorate, and laugh! Join us for a week of fun-filled baking, where campers dive into the delicious world of sweet teats! We will explore the world of sweets with hands-on fun, creating a variety of no-bake desserts and ending the week off with cake decorating! Plus, they’ll get to design their own apron to wear as they bake! With every sprinkle and swirl, campers will enjoy a week of creativity, laughter, and delicious delights, leaving with tasty treats and unforgettable memories! (Instructor: Meghan Bonin)

Doll Adventures in Music: grades 1-5

Join us as we journey through history with your favorite dolls like Samantha, Molly, or Kit, and explore the music of their times! Campers will learn about musical history, eras, genres, styles, and even fashion, as well as engaging in fun musical activities alongside their favorite doll. (Instructor: Zelda Hayes)

Kiddie Camp – Winter in Summer: ages 3-5

Cool down with a winter wonderland adventure! Children will be engaged through storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. All children must be potty trained.

Force and Motion Lego Lab: grades 1-2 (This camp is FULL. Please email summer@pennfield.org if you would like to be added to a waitlist.)

Get ready to explore the world of forces and motion with LEGO® Education BricQ Motion Essential! In this camp, young builders will work in teams to design and create objects that change speed or direction using pushes and pulls. Each day, campers will tackle a new challenge, brainstorming, building, and presenting their final creations. Through hands-on fun, they’ll learn how things move while building teamwork and problem-solving skills! (Instructor: Shannon D’Eramo)

Aloha Island Adventure: grades 1-3

Get ready for a tropical getaway full of sun, smiles, and island fun! In Aloha Island Adventure, campers will be transported to a paradise where the spirit of aloha comes to life. From creating their own luaus to volcano replicas, each day will be filled with laughter, adventure, and island magic. Campers will create unforgettable memories in this sun-soaked week of fun. Dive into an unforgettable adventure at Pennfield Fishing Camp, hosted off the pier at scenic Glen Manor! Designed for students in grades 4-7, this interactive camp teaches the essential fishing skills needed to reel in Rhode Island’s trickiest fish, including weakfish, scup, flounder, and bluefish. Each day is packed with thrilling catches, hands-on lessons, and the excitement of preparing and cooking the day’s bounty. Campers can also enjoy some well-deserved cool-off time in the refreshing waters of the Atlantic. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or casting a line for the first time, Pennfield Fishing Camp promises fun, learning, and unforgettable memories!

Rod and reel will be necessary and campers must bring their own. Bait and jigs will be supplied! (Instructor: Sam Schreiber)

Are You Ready for It? A Songwriting Adventure: grades 4-8

This week campers will be traveling through Taylor Swift’s eras, learning about her discography and incredible songwriting, performance, and development as an artist. Campers will also learn how to write in the style of their favorite eras, and explore their own eras and how they would put them to music in their own unique style!  (Instructor: Zelda Hayes)

Week 6: July 28 – August 1

Kiddie Camp – Jungle Safari: ages 3-5

Swing into adventure and explore the wild wonders of the jungle. Children will be engaged through storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. All children must be potty trained.

Step into the world of hands-on learning with LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Essential! In this camp, students will explore exciting STEAM concepts through storytelling, building, and problem-solving with LEGO® elements. Using their creativity and critical thinking, campers will engage with relatable Minifigures and everyday themes, all while developing essential skills in math, literacy, and social-emotional learning. Get ready for an adventure where building and learning go hand in hand! (Instructor: Shannon D’Eramo)

Be a Songwriter Every Day: grades 4-8

Do you ever wonder what it is about your favorite songs that makes you love them so much? The art is in songwriting. Each day campers will analyze a new artist and learn how to write in similar styles, and create their own styles of writing as well. Campers will learn/develop skills in writing, arranging, songwriting, and even performing! (Instructor: Zelda Hayes)

Week 7: August 4-8

Kiddie Camp – Pirates and Princesses: ages 3-5

Get ready for swashbuckling fun and royal adventures! Children will be engaged through storytelling, arts and crafts, and outdoor games. All children must be potty trained.
