On February 13, 2025, Pennfield School’s first-grade students embarked on a heartwarming journey of kindness and appreciation during their Heart to Heart Love Tour—a new initiative designed to spread joy and gratitude throughout the community.

The tour began at Portsmouth Town Hall, where the young students serenaded town workers with cheerful songs, expressing thanks for their dedication and service. The next stop took them to the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol, where they not only performed for the residents but also engaged in a meaningful activity—creating handcrafted cards and artwork alongside veterans, fostering moments of connection and appreciation.

Continuing their tour, the students visited the Portsmouth Fire and Police Departments, where they delivered handmade notes and performed songs to express their heartfelt gratitude to the town’s first responders. The smiles and warmth exchanged made it evident that their gestures of appreciation resonated deeply with the community.

Reflecting on the experience, first-grade teacher Wendy Randle shared, “This experience was endearing, heart-warming, and impactful for everyone involved, including our first-grade performers and the very grateful community members who all received heartfelt letters of gratitude from Pennfield’s first graders.”

The Heart to Heart Love Tour is a reflection of Pennfield’s commitment to fostering kindness, empathy, and civic engagement in its students. By giving back to their community in such a meaningful way, these young learners demonstrated the power of gratitude and the importance of human connection.
