The Buddy Program is a treasured community builder for The Pennfield School. Each year, older students are paired up with younger students as Buddies. Once a month, Buddies have the opportunity to meet and work together in a variety of fun and educational activities. The partnerships benefit both younger and older students by building self-esteem, communication, and empathy skills.
This beloved tradition had to be put on hold in 2020 to keep students as physically healthy as possible and maintain in-person learning, but this school year we are thrilled to bring it back! Students and faculty alike were beyond excited for the first Buddy Day in 2 1/2 years.
After meeting their buddies, students spent some time playing a few quick get-to-know-you games. Then everyone headed outside for the main event. Buddies worked together to paint shells that reflected what students love about Pennfield. Their colorful creations are on display in one of out flower beds in front of the school.
It was a day filled with laughter, joy, and friendship. We can’t wait for our next activity!
