Seventh grade artists worked on a 3D design project focusing on the meaning, purpose, and value of walking in their shoes. This project is a collaboration with Mrs. Kemp’s World Cultures class encouraging students to take their studies of other cultures and focus these same elements of culture on themselves.
Students build a shoe to symbolically represent who they are and what aspects of their self and their culture best represent their essence. The design guides the viewer on a “walk” in the artist’s shoes. This collaboration is a powerful empathetic design project that self-reflection as well as understanding and compassion for others.
