This is how learning can be

Pennfield AcademicsAt Pennfield you are going to find something a little bit different. It’s deeply rooted in our Core Values, is evident throughout our rigorous curriculum, permeates our active school community and is seen everywhere on our beautiful 19-acre campus – Learning can and should be fun.

Whether it is ancient civilization, fractions and decimals, the life cycle of a plant or plein aire painting, our faculty embraces a unique interdisciplinary approach to academics. You might find a math class studying probability by germinating seeds (for next year’s Bistline Garden) or a music class playing instruments indigenous to Africa, while the social studies class learns of Africa’s geography, governments and cultures, and the art class makes African-inspired clay masks. In our bright new classrooms, large open art studio, on the theater stage, and especially in the natural settings of our Little Slocum Farm campus, we create an atmosphere so that learning resonates with each individual student from our youngest three year olds to our maturing eighth graders. This is how learning is at The Pennfield School.

With our integrated teaching style we are creating a learning experience that sparks each student’s curiosity in a meaningful way.
